Projected Pool Trends of 2026

As 2025 slips away, and we make room in our lives for all that 2026 has in store, I thought it would be interesting to have a look at some industry projections. What kind of pool trends can we expect to see in the coming year?

Smart Pools:

Homeowners are not lazy. We live busy lives in a fast paced world. We are simply realizing that life is too short to waste any time on things that no longer serve them. Smart integration of automation and technology is a growing commodity, from programming pumps and heaters to turn on and off at timed intervals, to chemical dosing and energy management. Many pools are now app-controlled, for monitoring the security of your pool in real time, and managing things like temperature, lights, and electric covers.

Sustainability and Eco-Friendly:

Thanks to a law passed in 2021 by the Department of Energy, energy efficient variable speed pumps are pretty much the only kind of pool pumps being installed on pools anymore. Instead of running at one constant rate for hours on end like their older counterparts, variable speed pumps are equipped to run at lower velocities for longer, kicking up a notch as necessary, or as scheduled. This is cheaper, more energy efficient, while still keeping the health and circulation of the pool as the central objective. Heaters too have seen great strides in design for eco-friendly function. Many homeowners are opting in for solar heaters and LED lighting.

Compact and Space-Saving Pools:

Bigger isn’t always better. Plunge pools and cocktail pools are a chic way to elevate a smaller yard. Many people are looking to incorporate more luxury features in lieu of more swimmable pool area. Along those same lines, we are seeing more built in hydrotherapy jets, more swim spas, and more cold plunges. At the height of the Covid pandemic, pools were seen as a necessity to enrich the lives of everyone who was sheltering in place. Today, wellness-oriented features are still a primary focus, with the outdoor living space being designed and curated to feel more like a private luxury resort.

Continued Customization:

There are few limits that haven’t been tested in the pool industry, and I believe that if you can dream it, the usual response from any pool professional won’t be, “Impossible”, but “Let’s make it possible.” In addition to infinity edges, sun-shelves, benches, fire and water features, programmed pool lights, iridescent glass tiles, I mean that list goes on and on—we are seeing more cohesive designs, bringing the old division between inside and outside into an in-between place where the lines get blurred.
