Pool Trends in 2023

Here at Denscot we are always looking at ways to innovate our design and technique. In this blog post we will briefly touch upon three pool trends that we are seeing in 2023!

The first trend is having two different interior finishes on a pool or pool-spa combo. The most common example and use of this technique is to install a lighter tan color on the pool’s sun shelf, splash pad or beach entrance. Then the rest of the pool’s walls and deep end will typically be a lighter blue finish. This mimics the look of being at the beach and having the sand under your feet. This gives the pool a very natural yet unique look that is a subtle detail. Additionally, it just adds an uncommon but elegant touch to the pool to make it stand out and keep it natural. Another way two interior finishes have been used is to have the pool a lighter blue and the built-in spa a very dark navy blue. This contrast between the bodies of water gives a classy and distinguished look. Clients will also upgrade the interior of the spa to have a more refined-textured finish. This utilizes smaller pebbles to create definition between bodies of water, making this a popular option in 2023.

The second trend this year is bubblers with lights and automation integration. If you are not familiar with bubblers, they are devices typically located within inches of the surface of the pool water. The device releases air bubbles and creates a fountain-like feature in the water. Additionally, they are beneficial for water circulation, improving the visual appearance of the pool and creating a relaxing white noise. In the last few years pool technology has drastically developed to create features in the pool that can be operated from anywhere. The newest trend is integrating water features, lights, and automation together to create a seamless experience for pool owners. You can kick back at night for a late swim with the bubblers rolling and soft lights illuminating the sky!

The third trend that we are seeing this year is lighting. Whether it is lighting for the interior of the pool or just landscape lights surrounding the pool area, they have become a hot commodity. We have seen pools with upwards of 15 individual lights installed in the interior of the water. These lights can range in size from 6 inches in diameter to 12 inches, and can range from just plain white to a selection of shades available on a new automation-controlled color dial. As far as the exterior of the pool goes, there are plenty of options to elevate your backyard whether it is stair lighting, accent spotlights, garden lights or string lights. Having lighting around the pool area not only allows for extended use of the space into the evening hours but is a way to create an ambiance, making it one of the key features homeowners are considering this year!
